Here is my entry for the DailyPaintworks - Weekly Challenge - I focused on the sparkling highlights on the lawn that are contrasted with the red leaves from above...

Papaya Season
Living in South Florida means having a papaya tree in your back yard. This is the last surviving fruit of our great harvest. In an attempt to depict the delicious ripeness of the fruit, I chose to use a dark (complementary) background and the brightest orange mix on my palette....

another weekly challenge for Daily Paintworks
Thank you Carol Marine for this week's challenge...and what a challenge it was. So different from tonal studies with charcoal or pencil, this one-color-oil study was hard to get into the appropriate tones without white. But here it is - mid-values=most; light-values=medium and darks=smidge - Good practice. I am looking forward to another challenge!

Weekly Painting Challenge
You might just recognize this cute face...from the weekly painting challenge! Two challenges for me here - I never painted a cat before and I usually paint from real life not from photos. Looking at the painting again, hmm -it looks a bit too busy, I guess I could have downplayed more of the light parts to give it better focus. Overall I think not too bad... It was a great exercise!!

Apple Triangle
Today is a good day. I finally was able to set up my own blog. So I am very new at this and am still figuring everything out including better photos of the art work. I was playing with the idea of joining for a while but other priorities called attention. OK - so here I am. I am happy to join this community of active artists as I have followed and took great inspiration from some of the blogs. Unfortunately, I am not organized and disciplined enough to join the daily painters. I see this as a start. I hope this can be a blog about my "weekly" paintings. Thanks for stopping by :o)
